New Tim Hicks Single “She Rides Away”
With “The Pilot” Top 25 and climbing at Canadian country radio, Tim Hicks adds another chapter to Going Somewhere with “She Rides Away.”
Gritty, roots-driven and cinematic, the track showcases a more seasoned side of Hicks’ sound. Recorded at Hamilton’s legendary Grant Avenue Studio, ‘She Rides Away’ is one of three new songs Hicks cut alongside his longtime touring band.
Written by Eric Paslay and Phil Barton, the song is a story of freedom, mystery and knowing some people were never meant to stay.
“I first heard Phil sing ‘She Rides Away’ at a writer’s round at the Bluebird Café in 2012, on my very first trip to Nashville. I fell in love with the song, but I was really hung up on writing all my own songs at the time, so it didn’t make sense for me to cut it.
Over the years, I’d always say to Phil, ‘Let’s write one like “She Rides Away,”’ and he’d say, ‘Why don’t you just cut it?’ We’d both laugh. Well, I couldn’t stop thinking about that song all these years later, so last year I took my band into Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton and we finally did it. I love it even more now that we’ve put our own stamp on it.”
Hicks heads to Nashville twice and the UK this fall before returning home to St. Catharines for Light of Day Canada: Tim Hicks & Friends at the Meridian Centre on November 7, supporting Parkinson’s research and care. New Ontario tour dates for Spring 2027 are on sale now, with the deluxe edition of Going Somewhere on the horizon.
